About us

Since 1961, within the city of Amritsar, India, three generations of our family have been proudly serving the individuals with the authentic flavours of the city. We immigrated to Canada in 2011 with the dream of continuing the family business and introducing the people of Ontario to our family recipes.

Our name was inspired by the technique we use, tadka, otherwise known as tempering, which is a method in which whole or ground spices are briefly roasted in oil or ghee (clarified butter) in order to release their essential oils, thus making their flavor more aromatic.

The first location of Desi Tadka was opened in Brampton, Ontario in 2013. The company originally started as a catering and tiffin delivery service, receiving positive feedback and love from the local community. Eventually, we moved our business to Ottawa, Ontario, where we are situated today, on Robertson Road.

We now offer our tiffin, catering and dine-in services all across Ottawa, from Monday through Friday, with a wide array of options, delivery, and a unique weekly menu.
